Signed and framed artwork by Daniel Ward-Murphy

You, yes you, can win a prize! By reading this, you’re in with a chance of winning something truly unique. ‘What be it?’, we hear you ponder in a whimsical aside. Well ponder no longer because we can now reveal all. The very special prize we’ve got for you lucky folks is some signed framed artwork by hot young thing Daniel Ward-Murphy. It’s a signed still from the video for his latest single, ‘The Queen of Something New’. Which just happens to be the lead track from his debut long-player, Until The Morning Light.

Following in the footsteps of that band what were on Dragon’s Den and Patrick Wolf, Daniel Ward-Murphy is releasing his album via one of those sites where the fans can make a profit -  www.sellaband.com – and some 900 of them have put at least $10 into this here chappy.

He offers this on the whole thing: “Sellaband is very meritocratic.  The music lovers get to decide which album gets made and you get to build genuine relationships with your fans.  The internet is breaking down geographical barriers and it is great to have an effect on people all over the world.  The users of the site who search for (and then support) music are the pioneers for the millions of people who will follow.  The record labels have been telling people what to like for a long time, and now it is time for the public to choose what they want to listen to.  Now they are the record company, they are the people getting the albums they want for great prices and they are the people making it happen for these artists.  I am happy to be one of them and support this great music revolution.”

For your chance to win, simply tell us what website Mr. Ward-Murphy is releasing his album in conjunction with – and send your answer alongside your full name, address and best contact telephone number to musosguide AT googlemail DOT com by Friday February 13, 2009 (duh duh duh…).

Best of luck!

Capsula – Rising Mountains

June 2, 2009

Other than selected single tracks here and there from long-dead sixties bands I don’t reckon I’ve heard much by Argentinian rock groups.

Stag and Dagger, Glasgow: Take Two

May 31, 2009

Glasgow has needed a festival like this for ages.

Sonic Youth – The Eternal

May 31, 2009

If anything, new album The Eternal is even more direct and straight-rocking than its predecessor: it’s what 1992’s Dirty might have sounded like without Butch Vig’s polished production.

Deerhunter – Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP

May 31, 2009

Varied, but not disjointed. Concise, but not half-formed.
