Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic

Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic

“I bet that I, can make you believe, in LOVE and SEX and MAGIC” (insert Justin Timberlake’s signature harmonious ‘ooooo’s) and by the end of the song you too will believe.  This is one of those songs that even if you try and avoid, you’ll find yourself humming, singing, clicking your fingers and/or clapping along too…well the chorus anyway.

Taken from her forthcoming album, Fantasy Ride, Ciara’s new single from her third album is what must sound like the equivalent of Justin Timberlake’s shower water, because he is all over it! Not only did he co-write it with her, he also produced it – with a little help from Rob Knox and James Fauntleroy. It seems apparent that the time with Timbaland has left aforementioned Timberlake pilfering (in arguably not so small quantities) from his ‘Musical Gurus’ signature sounds; this could quite easily be mistaken for Timbaland’s drums and, well, overall music talent.

‘Love Sex Magic’ sounds like something we could have expected on Justin’s 2006 album Futuresex/Lovesounds, but nevertheless Ciara brings it. And at times even sounds like Janet Jackson herself! It definitely sounds like the 23-year-old has grown up since her debut single ‘Goodies’ in 2004.

I’m sure fans of both the artists will enjoy listening to this but somehow it feels as though JT dominates this. Justin Timberlake ft. Ciara would have been far more apt.

Lots of lovely text

Capsula – Rising Mountains

June 2, 2009

Other than selected single tracks here and there from long-dead sixties bands I don’t reckon I’ve heard much by Argentinian rock groups.

Stag and Dagger, Glasgow: Take Two

May 31, 2009

Glasgow has needed a festival like this for ages.

Sonic Youth – The Eternal

May 31, 2009

If anything, new album The Eternal is even more direct and straight-rocking than its predecessor: it’s what 1992’s Dirty might have sounded like without Butch Vig’s polished production.

Deerhunter – Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP

May 31, 2009

Varied, but not disjointed. Concise, but not half-formed.
