Dananananaykroyd pull out of tonight’s London show

Dananananaykroyd

We are gutted about this so thought we’d pass it on to spare your collective disappointment.

Here’s what the band said on their blog:

“Dear friends,

We’re very sorry to announce that we have had to cancel our Levi’s Ones to Watch show at the Camden Barfly tomorrow. Paul came down last night with what seems to be tonsillitis, and if any of you have had that before you will know that it is like being hit with a ton of bricks and is really not conducive to the sort of rocktageous funtimes that we like to propagate at our shows.

Really sorry to disappoint you all. We don’t cancel gigs lightly, and Paul was determined to battle through for this one, but as he can barely move and has a worryingly high fever, we thought it would be best if he is allowed time to recover at home.

So please send all your get well wishes this way, and all (Paul!) being well we will see you in London next week for the Camden Crawl.

Thanks, and apologies again

Dananananaykroyd

A resounding boo. Get well soon Paul!

Phil Spector

Phil Spector

World-famous producer Phil Spector has been convicted of murder at the end of a five-month trial in the US.

The 68-year-old was found guilty of murdering actress Lana Clarkson at his home some six years ago. Sentencing will take place on May 29.

Spector, who faces between 15 years and life in prison, remained quiet and betraying little emotion as the verdict was read to him by the jury. Ms Clarkson was shot in the mouth at Spector’s LA home, and the jury reached a unanimous guilty verdict after some 30 hours of deliberation.  In 2007, the first trial was abandoned as the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision.

Phil Spector pioneered the ‘wall of sound’ technique and worked with stars including The Ronettes, the Righteous Brothers and The Beatles. … Continue Reading

It’s also surely the first chance to re-see such delights as Wild Beasts and Good Shoes for quite some time, both of which will be welcomed back with open arms.

With more than 100 bands across the two days, Hinterland’s “primary aim is to showcase established and upcoming Scottish talent – as well as some of the UK’s best emerging and established talent”. … Continue Reading

Lots of lovely text

Capsula – Rising Mountains

June 2, 2009

Other than selected single tracks here and there from long-dead sixties bands I don’t reckon I’ve heard much by Argentinian rock groups.

Stag and Dagger, Glasgow: Take Two

May 31, 2009

Glasgow has needed a festival like this for ages.

Sonic Youth – The Eternal

May 31, 2009

If anything, new album The Eternal is even more direct and straight-rocking than its predecessor: it’s what 1992’s Dirty might have sounded like without Butch Vig’s polished production.

Deerhunter – Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP

May 31, 2009

Varied, but not disjointed. Concise, but not half-formed.
